Purpose

The Knowledge Area Proficiency Profile (KAPP) is a report that lists each knowledge area of a scale, the number of goals per knowledge area, and the percent of goals attained by children in the selected center(s)/class(es).

The percentage is determined by the following formula:

(children) x (goals in knowledge area)= A

(Children in the “learned” column)/A=%

TIP:  This is available to Agency-, Center-, and Class-level users.

How Can I Use This?

This report can be printed at multiple times throughout the program year to show an overview of the developmental progression of a class by illustrating development in each knowledge area.

Access

1.         Click Reports>Knowledge Area Proficiency Profiles (under Observation Reports).

2.         If you are an Agency-level user or a Center-level user with access to more than one center, select the Center for which you wish to generate a report.

a.  Agency-level users or Center-level users with access to more than one center may generate an aggregate report by selecting [All Centers].

3.         If you are a Class-level user with access to more than one class, select the Class for which you wish to generate a report.

a.  Agency-, Center-level, or Class-level users with access to more one class may select [All Classes].

4.         Use the down arrows on the Period Ending drop-down menu to select the date for which you wish to generate a report.  

5.         Click in the checkbox to select the scale(s) for which you wish to generate a report in the Select Scales box.

a.  You may select up to 12 scales at one time for a child, thus showing the development of the whole child.

b.  You may use the Select All or Deselect All links.

6.         In the Report Headings section, determine if you to print the scale and:

a.  level, select the radio button Print scale name and level.

b.  no level, click in the radio button Print name without level.

7.         (optional) In the Optional Filters and Settings section:

a.  Select the Gender for which you would like to view the report. By leaving both boxes checked you will see a report for all male and female children.

b.  Using the down arrow select the Age Range which you would like to include in your report.

i.          When the age range is set to zero, the children’s of all ages who has a documented observation are included in your report.

ii.        To produce a report targeting children who will be age appropriate for Kindergarten next year, filter children between the ages of 4 years 0 months and 5 years 0 months as of the beginning of the current school year. This will produce a report showing the children who will be 5 years old next year and therefore, may be transitioning to Kindergarten.

iii.       Using the down arrow select the As of date.

8.         Use the down arrow on the Form drop-down menu to select the form which includes the variables you would like to use to filter.

9.         Using the checkboxes select the variables which you would like to include in your report.

10.    Click the Run Report button.
