Interest Areas

Purpose

Interest areas are indoor/outdoor environments where activities and learning opportunities occur. (Refer to the Curriculum Overview page for an explanation and interest area examples.) These areas also contain the materials used by children as they explore, learn, and interact with others. Galileo provides you with a library of interest areas in a default library known as “Galileo Interest Area Library.”

If, rather than using Galileo’s Interest Area library, you would prefer to create your own interest areas list, you may. You will first want to design your interest areas, and then you will want to list these in an interest area library in the Galileo system so they may be reflected in your lesson plans.
