Add a New Staff Member

TIP:  This is available only to Galileo Plus (Merlin) users.

Purpose

New teachers can be entered on the Staff Demographics page; however, it is best to enter teachers on the Teacher page.  The Staff Demographics page is also where you can enter staff members who work for your organization, but are not teachers. 

Access

Prior to adding a staff member you should verify that the individual  is not already in the system. Refer to the Search for a Staff page for instructions.

1.         Click Merlin>Staff>Demographics.

2.         Click the Add a new staff member link.

3.         Use the down arrow on Center drop-down menu to select center.

4.         Enter the requested information.

a.  To enter additional information about this staff member on a different form, refer to the Complete/Update Staff Form page for instructions.

5.         To save your entry and

a.  enter another staff member, click the Save/New button. This option saves the entry and clears the page so you may enter another individual.

b.  return to the previous page, click the Save/New button. You'll then be taken back to the page you started at.

6.         The individual should be assigned to a center. Refer to the Assign/Unassign a Staff Member page for directions.

Duplicate Staff Message

7.         When entering a new staff member and you get a Duplicate Staff message, this means that the individual is probably already in Galileo, just not assigned to your center or enrolled in a previous year.

8.         Use the Transfer, Cancel Save or Continue with Save button depending on your message.

9.         If the individual was in a previous program year, refer to the Annual Data Setup page for instructions on transferring this staff member to the current program year.
