Purpose

Once an initial (baseline) assessment is recorded on a child, ongoing (subsequent) observations are documented in one of the observational pages -- by child, by goal, and/or by class. (Refer to the Enter Observation for Returning Child page if necessary.) Developmental assessment is the process of discovering what children can do and how they do it.

Recording Observations

12.    On the left side, check off the capabilities that the child has learned. Refer to the Scale Examples page for instructions on accessing the capability example.

13.    The Planning Level automatically is updated to “Learned.”

14.    To the right of each capability, use the down arrow on the box labeled Data Source to select the apporpirate option.

15.    Click the Save Changes button.

16.    Repeat these steps for the other scales and other children.

Tips

1.         Remember check on the left, change on the right!

2.         Now that the observation has been saved, the following things have been done for you:

a.  Galileo has automatically adjusted the child's Developmental Level Score.

b.  Galileo has automatically adjusted each capability as "Learned," "Plan Soon," "Plan Now," or "Plan Later," based on the Amount Learned you established for your students.  This is to aid you in your planning.
